Snow Day!

We spend so much time glorifying the Red Dog (and rightfully so, she adds) that it's easy to forget the other members of her pack. Today we thought it nice to share a glimpse with you of Daisy (the Black Dog) and Snoopy, aka "the Downstairs Dogs," as they venture out into their backyard winter wonderland. Although we humans are longing for the warmth of Spring, it's nice to see that some of the rest of the gang still enjoy a good old-fashioned romp in the snow! (Special thanks to the Southern Winter Triple-Threat of 2010 for not totally crushing us here in East Tennessee...we appreciate your mercy and are praying for all those left in your wake who were not as lucky as us.)

Cooper, We Hardly Knew Ye

Sad news today, as our dear long-distance friend Cooper made his way across the Rainbow Bridge. He leaves behind paw-prints on the hearts of us all, but none more so than on those of his parents Sarah and Lee. Seven years together may seem like a good run, but those days flash by in the blink of an eye and leave us with both a deep, abiding sadness and precious golden memories that will only grow sweeter with each sunset. Sleep the dreams of the angels, dear boy, and know that one day both your people will be there to join you and you can dance the dance of eternity...together.

Forced Communication

So our post-holiday laziness has caused the Red Dog much angst, and thus we are forced to step-up and remind the world that she is still very much alive and kicking. This morning on our daily jaunt to the park and the river, the two of us were lucky enough to witness a snowy storm of seagulls flying up the waterway to an area just past the airport where they proceeded to feed on some unsuspecting (and unfortunate) fish. A few minutes later, they flew back in the direction from which they came...kind of an avian smash and grab, if you think about it. In the midst of all that activity, "Big Blue" (one of the Blue Herons that frequents our neighborhood) made a surface-skimming entrance as he buzzed across the river directly under the swarming gulls and landed in his usual fishing spot. Add in the honking Canadian geese swimming just offshore and we had a bird dog's dream. Too bad Shiva thinks she's above such filthy things. She does, however, like to watch those silly birds do their stuff, and goose poop certainly does smell nice. :)

Update

The Red Dog wants you to know that she has not forgotten you. She is doing well and encourages her (lazy) people every day to post on HER blog. She has much to say and many new videos to share. If you know her people, tell them to get cracking! WOOF!
